Humane circus
Animals are not actors or clowns. However, thousands of animals around the world are violently forced to perform silly and humiliating tricks and performances. They are separated from their kin and the natural environment, they are kept chained or in narrow cages, transported in narrow cargo vans thousands of kilometers - from one circus to another circus. All this - for the "entertainment" of people.
Although more and more countries have banned and are going to ban the use of animals in circuses and there is an increasing dissatisfaction with this kind of "entertainment" in the Latvian society, the Riga Circus is still proud of this cruel practice, and does not show any interest to change. Therefore "Dzīvnieku brīvība" ("Freedom of Animals") has launched a campaign "For a human circus", which aims at banning the animal circus in Latvia.
